best-trampoline-weather-cover

If you keep your trampoline outdoors in the backyard, you should get a trampoline cover to protect your investment.

Most trampolines are designed to withstand the wear and tear of rain, sun and other weather elements, but as we all know, Mother Nature will almost always win that battle slowly as time goes on.

Trampoline covers keep your trampoline functioning properly and in top shape.

They can prolong your trampoline's lifespan for a few additional years and save you some serious coin in the long run.

Let's go over the different types of trampoline covers and enclosures available to protect your trampoline for years to come.

Trampoline Weather Cover Reviews

These covers are designed specifically to protect different elements of the trampoline from wind, rain and sun damage.

Some trampoline weather covers cover the springs and others cover the mat.

If you live in an area where you get a lot of rain or have very harsh weather conditions, you may want to look into protecting your trampoline with a weather cover.

Here are a few options we would like to share.

JumpSport Trampoline Weather Cover
  • Can be put on without removing safety enclosure
  • Simple one piece design
  • Fits 14ft frames with 4 "U" legs
  • Made from heavy duty PVC-coated polyester

If you own a JumpSport or AlleyOop Sports trampoline, this weather cover is designed specifically for the 14 foot model with four U shaped legs. The cover is a single piece design that can be easily installed in about 20 minutes with a single person. This trampoline cover is made with some heavy-duty PVC-coated polyester, which is basically a thick tarp. This will protect your trampoline's jumping mat, springs and spring pad from getting damaged by UV rays from the sun. If you are looking for a weather cover for your trampoline and do not want to remove the safety enclosure from the trampoline to install it, this is one of the only products on the marked designed to install or remove without the hassle of taking down the safety enclosure as well.

Made of double-sided polyethylene, this trampoline cover is 100% UV resistant, which provides superior protection to your trampoline's mat, pads, and springs. There are drain hole grommets to prevent standing water from pooling, and damaging the cover or the trampoline. The cover is secured by S-hooks that easily fasten to the trampolines V-rings. Overall this is a great cover that we recommend if you have a rectangular trampoline with the specifications listed above.

Trampoline Spring Cover Reviews

These trampoline covers are designed to protect the springs from rusting due to rain, snow or other moisture. The trampoline springs are a crucial element of the trampoline and provide the bounce that makes a trampoline fun and exciting. Rusty springs degrade the bounce and can increase the chance of something breaking and potential injury.

In addition to protecting the springs from water, these covers also provide some extra padding and protection to the jumpers. One of the worst things that can happen on a trampoline is getting your fingers or toes pinched in the springs. By covering the springs you eliminate the possibility of pinching while keeping your trampoline protected from the rain at the same time.

Upper Bounce Trampoline Safety Pad
  • Easy to install elastic design
  • Low cost
  • Multiple sizes available
  • Adds padding cover to springs

If you are looking to cover up your springs or add some padding to protect the jumpers from the springs, this is an awesome product that is very cheap and easy to install. The spring cover is secured by elastic and looks very nice once it is installed. The safety pad is made of 250 gram PVC on the top and 110 gram PVC on the bottom. There is also a nice 4.5 mm thick piece of foam on the top side to provide some cushion between the jumpers and the springs. Upper Bounce makes this trampoline spring pad in three colors: blue, red and green. It is also available in 36, 38, 40, 44, and 48 inch diameter frame sizes. This is the perfect product if you are looking for a good quality spring pad/cover without spending a ton of money.

Super Round Trampoline Safety Pad
  • High density closed-cell foam does not absorb water
  • Multiple colors and sizes available
  • Fastened by double rubber ties
  • Very thick padding, 310g PVC on top and 130g PE on the bottom

Another great product from Upper Bounce is this super round trampoline safety pad. This is one of the nicest trampoline spring pads we have seen. The pad is made from shock absorbent, high density, closed-cell foam that does not absorb water, mildew or lose shape over time. The material is some of the thickest on the market with the top being 310 gram PVC and the bottom is 130 gram PE supported by half inch thick EPE foam to protect the springs and your family. There are three different color options: blue, green and blue/green alternating. This spring cover is also available in multiple sizes and can fit almost any round trampoline on the market. If you need to replace your trampoline's spring pad or you are just looking to upgrade your current pad, pick one of these up.

Other Trampoline Enclosures

You can also use a plain old tarp to cover up your trampoline during the off seasons. This is a good option if you already have a tarp that you can use or if you are trying to save some money. The tarp option is nice because you can use the cover for other purposes if needed.

Grizzly Tarps 15 x 15 Feet Blue Multi Purpose Waterproof Poly Tarp Cover
  • Thick 8x8 weave 5mm thick
  • Grommet holes allow secure tie downs
  • Super cheap
  • Can be used for other purposes when not covering the trampoline

Here is a super cheap alternative to the items listed above. If you are not trying to spend a bunch of money on an actual trampoline cover, pick up a tarp and some tie downs. It may not do the greatest job but something is better than nothing. These are great if you leave the trampoline out over the winter and just want a layer of protection from the snow. This is not our #1 option or recommendation, but it works. If you do decide to go the trampoline tarp route, make sure you get a quality tarp so it does not fall apart or damage the trampoline.

Final Thoughts

Trampolines are not cheap so why let the weather beat on it all year long? Keep the trampoline covered with a nice weather cover or store the trampoline indoors during the winter months to prolong the life of your trampoline.

Keeping the springs covered if you live in an area with lots of rain will double or even triple the life of your springs, saving you hundreds of dollars in upkeep years down the road. Not only will you save money, but you also will save yourself the worry of your kids' fingers getting pinched in the springs. Do yourself a favor and spend the little extra to keep the kids safe, especially if the trampoline is a few years old.
